Dogs.
We were speaking of the sagacity of dogs. The conventional story of the pointer which pointed upon the ngar approach of a man by the name of Partridge had just been told. “That reminds me,” Smithson remarked, “of a dog I once owned. One day when 1 had the dog with me I met a man by the name of Vogel, but the dog didn’t do a thing.” “And why was this?” we clamored eagerly. “Because," replied Smithson, “the dog was an Irish setter, and didn’t understand German.” Here the house stood for a round.—Detroit Journal.
