BIRTHDAY SURPRISE.

A surprise was given Mrs. Mary Reed, wife of John Reed, Jr., 8 miles northwest of Remington, in Jordan tp., Sept 23, it being her twenty-ninth birthday. Friends and relatives gathered there about 11 o’clock with well filled baskets, and after dinner was over, which was a grand one, ice-cream and cake were served and other enjoyments were had, till 5 o’clock, when all returned to their homes, leaving Mrs. Reed many beautiful presents, among which was a handsome rocker, a gift from her husband.
