Three men were killed nnd twenty-one Injured in a collision between Boston anti Albany freight and gravel trains at Warren, Mass. W. D. Ragan, owner of the wrecked schooner Jupiter, was picked up in Lake Huron, lashed to a raft and unconscious from hunger and exposure. Charles Crist Delmonico, head of the famous Delmonico restaurant, New Y’ork, died at Colorado Springs, of consumption of the throat, lie was 40 years old. Admiral Sampson formally resigned his post as commandant of the Charlestown navy yard ami departed for Fort Hamilton, N. Y., where-he will visit a sister. The steamer Hudson of the Western Transit Company foundered in Lake Superior off Eagle river, and her crew of twenty-four men were undoubtedly drowned. Helen A. Bloodgood, young daughter of New York people, started on a shopping trip and has dropped completely out of •ight, the ease battling the best detectives of the city. Rev. Dr. I>. S. Stafford lias been uppointed the Irremovable pastor of St. Patrick's Homan Catholic Church at Washington. The church owns real estate valued at $4,000,000. Insanity experts put Assassin Czolgosa through a rigid examination, nnd declare that he is not insane. Chemical analysis of the bullets fired into the President's body failed to disclose any trace of poison. John Armstrong Chanter, who mysteriously disappeared from Bloomingdale asylum, New York, some years ago, has reappeared in Virginia court, established his sanity and been put in possession of ail his property in that State, Dr. 11. The prisoner is said to be addicted to the excessive use of morphine and stimulants. After a street battle r. Altoona, Pa., between police and citizens, on one side, and a gang or strangers, believed to be members of an organized band of robbers, on the other, one of the desperadoes was wounded fatally and six others were taken into custody. William Barclay Parsons, engineer in chief of the rapid transit commission, to whom District Attorney Philbiu referred the report made by his experts on the Brooklyn bridge, says that after an examination of the report he was satisfied that the bridge was perfectly safe. Eight masked men entered the ear barn of the Holmesburg, Taeouy and Fraukford Railway, in the extreme northeastern section of Philadelphia, bound nnd gagged two watchmen, blew open two safes and robbed them of the day's receipts, amounting to about $1,200. To escape the rage of her apparently demented husband, Airs. Grace Prior, wife of Theodore Prior of New York, fled down the fire escape, holding one child in her arms and carrying another by catching the folds of its dress hi her teeth. In this manner she climbed down four stories. Six persons wore killed nnd twenty-five seriously injured by a collision between a freight train nnd nil express on the main line of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad at Avon, Mass. The accident was due to a switch not having been properly set, nnd the train was thrown down a high embankment.
