Almost Unanimous.

The special election Monday for voting a subsidy of $21,355 in Marion tp., in aid of the proposed east and west railroad passed off very quietly and less than half a full vote was cast, not many from the country leaving their farm work to come in ana vote. The total number of voters in Rensselaer and Marion tp., as shown by the recent enumeration, is 951, and only about 418 votes were polled, of this number 394 were in favor of the subsidy and 19 against,. as follows: For Against Precinct No. 1' 110 5 Precinct No. 2 130 7 Precinct No. 3 f 70 2 Precinct No. 4 84 5 Total 894 ~ 19 The next thity; is, will we get the road? Those behind the enterprise are very vociferous in their assurances that it will be built right away; that work will begin within sixty days, etc., but it is always thus. We hope, however, that this will be one of the exceptions to the general rule, and that the promises of the promotors will be fulfilled.
