Common Council Meeting.

The common council met in regular session Monday evening with all members present. A. Parkinson was granted a permit to tap the Forest street sewer. B. F. Ferguson and about 50 others petitioned for a sewer in Maketnself ditch. The Sect, of Board of Health recommended the removal of the hitch racks on Harrison street, the matter was referred to the city attorney. The remonstrance of Cordelia P. Monnett against the construction of a sidewalk on Milroy street was sustained and proceedings dismissed. The contract for the improvement of Van Rensselaer street from Washington to Cornelia street was awarded to T. J. Sayler

& Co., at $4.85 per lineal foot, tbeir’s being the only bid. Th« treasurer’s report for the month'ending June 30, shows the following balances. Imp 125 52 Rensselaer Fuel and Feed Co., was awarded the contract for delivering coal for one year at 20 cents per ton. C. L. Thornton was appointed fireman at the Electric Light and Water station. The matter of the extension of the Macadam roadway on t Forest street to the intersection of the gravel road with Merrit street was referred to .the street committee. The city engineer was instructed to prepare specifications for repairing Washington street between Cullen street and the river. The marshal was instructed to require the restaurant keepers to keep the ice cream freezers off the sidewalks in front of their places of business. The claims allowed will be published next week.
