Walter Selph, a young drummer, was killed in a prize fight at Audubon Park, New Orleans. He and a young man named L. L. Bailey had a quarrel at a military ball and agreed to fight it out with bare fists. They had no seconds, and pounded each other until Selph fell from a blow which broke his neck.
