A whole armload of old paper# for a nickel at The Democrat office. A nice top buggy with a written guarantee at S4O, at Cowgill & Worland’s. The Democrat office will be closed all day next Monday, after 9. a. m., as the entire force expect to take in the picnic at Cedar Lake, that day. E. P. Honan yesterday sold the 80-acre farm near Laura, in Walker tp., owned by A. J. Knight and George Sharp to W. B. Austin. Consideration not stated. Prof. Sanders has rented the J. F. Warren residence on South Cullen street and will move into same about Sept. 1, at which time Mr. Warren’s family expect to move to Oklahoma. Frederick McGee died at his home west of town last Tuesday, after a few days sickness, aged 76 years. The funeral was held from his late residence Thursday, the G. A. B’s having charge of the burial. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Major returned Tuesday from a visit with the former’s father, Hon. George Major, at Mulberry. They report the old gentleman much improved in health with a good prospect of soon being hs well as ever. Wheat and corn is looking excellent in that locality. Mary had a little lamb.it followed her to church, and then it stood around the door like an owl upon a perch. Why don’t the little lamb come in? the watching people cried. Why, Mary told the silly thing to wait for her outside. 80 you, each gentle maiden, may one and all still find some sheep-head waiting near the door if you admire that kind.—Ex.
