Amoug the doscu camels that arrived ou the steamship Pocahontas the other day were two mall carriers of Bokhara. The most picturesque poslmeu of the world are the camel express messengers of the great Asian khanate. The men wear a red serviceable uniform and n large green turban embroidered wltli gold thread. From tlielr girdle hangs a curved sabre In a red sheath. The camels are adorned with trappings of gay cloth and tassels, ornamented with blue aud cowrie shells, and with small brass bells around their necks to give notice of their approach. The rough aud rapid trotting of these animals, sometimes at the rate of eighty miles a day. Is so trying to the riders as to shorten their lives.—New York Presjj
