'J--The committee having in charge the raising of funds for securing a band instructor and band concerts for the summer succeeded in raising about SBOO. Prof. Sehath, who recently gave the recital here has been hired as instructor and the band will be reorganized and ready for business in a short time. / Rev. Voliva, a former pastor of the Presbyterian church here and who later became a convert to Dowieism or so-called Christian Science, died in Cincinnati last week. Rev. Voliva was here and held meetings last they were slimly attended and resulted in no damage so far as known. It issupposedMr. Voliva died of consumption, as he gave evidence when here of having a well advanced case of that dread disease.
/Postmasrer Peek, M. C. Coover and H. C. Goldsberry were over frdm Remington Monday. The latter has recently located in the new Western Eldorado, Okalhama, and Mr. Coover and his brother W. H. Coover of this city, are also thinking strangely of doing likewise. In fact, we are informed that they have decided so to do, and that William will either dispose of his grocery business here or box up the stock and ship it to Oklahoma in a short time. They expect to locate at Augusta.
' On Wednesday evening of last week Mrs. Lucy Malchow, former assistant in the Rensselaer postoffice, and a daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Hheilds of this city, was married to Mr. Elmer Malone of Monticello. V The marriage took place at the home of W. O. McCord, on South Van Rensselaer street. The next morning the newly married couple took the train for Chicago for a brief visit, returning to Monticello Friday, where they will make their home. The Democrat extends congratulations.
