- - n Groceries, Tobacco and Cigars. One of the most pleasant as well as attractive places of business in ■Rensselaer is the grocery store of J. A. McFarland, at the corner of Washington and Cullen streets. This store was established three and one-half years ago and its business has steadily increased from the date of its inception. This is due to the fact that a superior quality of staple and fancy groceries is carried and that customers are fast learning that goods purchased of McFarland, are just as represented and that full measure is always given. Mr. McFarland’s stock is fresh and clean and embraces all the needs of the table. Much of his success is also due to his personal popularity and the fact that he gives personal attention to all the details of his trade. A few years ago Mr McFarland mad.' the canvass for County Clerk and because of his popularity among his neighbors he reduced the usual Republican majority of 600 to one half that number. A complete line of tobacco and cigars is carried and the highest market price is paid for produce.
