BUFFALO FAIR OPENS.

Pan • American Ixpyeition Throws W ide Ila Gates to Public. President, McKinley stopped at Vicksburg, pressed an electric button opened the t*ah-Aine'rienn Exposition. The gates of the exposition were thrown open to the public at Bi3o ufclock Wednesday morning. The initial day of, the sit months' form of tin* big show-was usher ed ill amid the banging of hnmniers, the shrieking of saws, tile rattling of work carts aitd the shiftit* of workmen. There was much, iu the unfinished however, to interest the throngs of peoNo ceremonies marked the opening of the gates, it having been decided by the management to combine the opening day ceremonies with thosw of dedication day, May 20. The change in the date, however, did not cause a moment's relaxation of the strenuous efforts being put forth by every one connected with the exposition to have everything its nearly ready as possible. The appearance of the buildings and grouftde bore ample evidence of their efforts.
