A Lively Fly.

The lantern fly, which lives in the Malay peninsula, jumps a distance of fiv« or sin feet without appending its wings. It does this by drawing its nose back under its body and striking It suddenly against the surface upon which it is resting. The insect is thrown forward somewhat as is the stone from a boy's slingshot.
