The next time Uncle Sam starts out to confer the blessings of liberty on the Cubans or any other ungratejul people, he should take particular pains to let it be understood tjiat he does not expect to “deliever the goods. Congress has gone perhaps for weeks, perhaps for months. But as it did limit the franchise grab in the Philippines and did not authorize the the subsidy grab in the^H T nited States, we shouldn’t be altogether paralyzed with astonishment if we had it with us again before long. When George E. Marshall filed a claim for squares for publishing the notice to the taxpayers, when there was only 19 squares in the notice, he filed a false claim against Jasper county which is punishable by not less than two yeftrs in the penitentiary, and The Democrat openly charges that this was a false claim, and that it is but one of the many filed by Marshall against Jasper county. Now, then, this is a libellous charge if not true. Does the Apologist man desire to prosecute?
