The Common Council.

The common council met in regular session Monday night with all members present. The committee on fire depart- [ ment was directed to meet with the committee of the department. Jan. 10. to . discuss ways and means for increasing their metn- [ bership and adjusting the compensation of said department. > The committee appointed to investigate in regard to the purchase [of the new electric dynamo reported the propositon from the [ General Electric Co. to install the 120 Kilowatt dynamo with the capacity of 2400 lights for $llOO. The machine is now in use at Houghton, Mich., but will be put in first-class condition. The committee was authorized to contract , for the purchase of the machine in ease an exciter and. rheostats|are included in tlie proposition. The following claims were aldowed: ROAD FUND.
