The Circuit Court.
Judge Lairy of Logansport came Wednesday and heard the argument for a new trial in the Kline case. The motion was overruled. He also sat in the Bedford-Warner case, which is not finished at this writing. The Bedford-Warner litigation has been in the courts here since 1886, and it is likely that only the death of all the parties will stop litigation. To-day is the last day of court. Thursday afternoon the Gillam tp., gravel road case was taken up and was still on the boards yesterday afternoon. The Curry case against the poor farm superintendent et al was also set for yesterday Following is a report in brief of the work of the week: State vs. Hoops, illegal liquor selling; jury again failed to agree. State vs, . unlawful use of dynamite; jury returns verdict of guilty and plaintiff is fined f 10. State vs. Herbert Barney, grand larceny; found gulltvof petit larceny and sentenced to jail for 30 days, fined $lO and disfranchised for 2 years. State vs. Hoops illegal liquor selling; defendant found guilty and fined $lO. Motion for new trial made yesterday. State vs. Wm. Fry. illegal liquor selling; defendant acquitted. State vs, Sarah Jonas, petit larceny; defendant pleads guilty and is fined sl, costs remitted. State vs. George E. Marshall, criminal libel; continued for term. Nelson Morris vs. Board of Commissioners of Jasper County, tbe Keener tp., gravel road Injunction case; again continued for the term. The Jasper County Oil & Gas Co. vs. Howard F. Chappell et al, injunction; decision not yet rendered, Bullock divorce case continued for term. AnnaC. Hershman vs. Jasper County Oil & Gas Co., to quiet title; change of venue granted, David D. Gleason vs. S, M. McGinnis, account; jury decided in favor of defendant.
