ARMY SUICIDES AND HOMICIDES.

Found to Be Less During Active Mill* tary Operation*. The tabulation of the cases of suicides and homicides which occurred in the nr* my during the years ISOB and 180!) are compared iu the annual report of Surgeon General Sternberg with the cases Which occurred during the ten years, 18884)7. Contrary to the general anticipation it is foupd that there were among the troops during the last two years relatively fewer homicides tliun during the years of the previous decade, and that the mettn annual ratio of suicides per thousand men was about two and ottebnlf times greater during the decade of peaceful garrison life than dining the recent period of active military service.
