Lillie Bullock vs Charles Bullock, is the title of a new divorce case filed in the circuit court last week. "New pensions: John -J?. Mitchell, Rensselaer, original, $6; Nancy H. Hamilton, Swanington, increase, sl2; George W. Maddox, Medaryville, original, $8; Elbert P. Sissons, North Judson, original, $6; Samuel H. Ostrander, Lake Village, original; $6. Wm. Dunn of Jordan tp., has purchased a 120-acre farm in Jennings county and his neighbor, Harry Jacobs, expects to close up a deal for one in a few days. Neither will move there Lor a while. The deals were made through Real Estate Agent Hinchman, whose advertisments appear in this paper. Miss Mary E. Harrison of this city, and Frank A. Sennebeck of of Mexico, Mo., were united in marriage at the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs. A. M. Harrison, on West Clark street, at high noon Tuesday. The groom is a widower with two small children. They departed at once for the groom’s home, where he is engaged in the mercantile business.
Mrs. George Conn, a member of the Conn smallpox family who left Comer, this county, in a hurried manner recently, is at Kentland, visiting her mother, Mrs. D. Heil, and is down with the disease. Mr. and Mrs. Conn and two chil-’ dren came to Kentland Sept. 11. On the 17 Mrs. Conn gave premature birth to a child. Kentland health authorities are trying to prevent spread of the disease. On June 12 the Jasper circuit court was convened in special session to hear the famous Iroquois ditch case. The case was tried before Judge Palmer of the White circuit court who took the matter under advisement and it was generally understood that he would render a decision within sixty days. Nearly twice sixty days have passed and gone and still no decision. Why is this decision being held back? Will it be rendered before the November election? The public would like to have the above questions answered, if possible. * The Wolcotts, Hon, Anson and son Eben H., the present republican candidate for state senator from this district, have sold their grain business at Wolcott to parties from Eureka, 111., who take charge of the same at once. Consideration said to be SII,OOO. The elder Wolcott it has been engaged in the grain business at that place for thirty years, but for the past ten or twelve years has been almost wholly in charge of his son Eben, the former having been much of the time in Colorado, where he has mining interests. It is rumored that the latter will embark in the banking business.
A copy of resolutions passed on Sept. Iby the stockholders of the Chicago & Wabash Valley Railroad company, extending the line from Gifford to West Lafayette, has just been filed with the secretary of state. The extension is to pass through Barkley, Hanging Grove and Milroy townships in Jasper county; Princeton, West Point and Round Grove townships in White county, and Wabash township in Tippecanoe county. The resolutions are certified to by President Benjamin Gifford and Secretary James E. Jones, and state that work on the extension will begin at once and proceed as fast as pi act icable The grand jury visited the poor farm and county jail last Friday and found at the former place the inmates were well cared for, cheerful and contented, the buildings were cleanly, comfortable, and well kept and in good sanitary condition. Also found farm buildings in good condition. At jail no inmates were found; jail well kept, cleanly and in good sanitary condition; recommended that jail be heated from heating plant, as better suited and less expensive. Also recommended that c l's used for confinement of insane and females be provided with automatic flushing closets. The cost of the grand jury was •130.50.
