A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lamson, in town, Sept. 12. C. D. Nowels visited the state fair Wednesday and Thursday. A daughter was recently born to Mr. and Mrs. A. Lardner of Goodland. “ Mr. and Mrs. B. Forsythe were in Chicago buying goods this week. Albert Marshall is attending the Wisconsin University at Madison, Wisconsin. Cupid has broken loose again in Rensselaer and no telling where he will stop. Miss Myrtle Bringle returned to Valparaiso to attend school again, last Monday. An 8-pound girl was born to Rev. and Mrs. H. S. Kester of Valma Tuesday. Taylor McCoy, son of T. J. McCoy, is attending the military school at Orchard Lake, Mich. Mrs. J. •P. Sherman and children left Sunday for a visit with her mother at St. Tammany Parish, La. B. F. Fendig returned home from Canada on Saturday. His cousin, Sol Openheimer, died last Sunday. The Carr brothers, G. H., and C. L .tookin the state fair and visited friends in Jennings county this week. John Jacks who has been visiting relatives here for some time, returned to his home at Coats, Kansas, Tuesday. W H. Robertson, the printer, formerly of this place, was m town Saturday. Mrs. Charles Burklin and daughter Ruby, of Brook, visited their aunt, Mrs. E. H. Shields, of this city, Saturday and Sunday. A. O. Yeoman and family, who have been visiting friends hereabouts for severel weeks, returned to their home at Kingman, Kan., Tuesday.
The first frost of the season fell Monday night, and was quite a heavy one. Considerable late planted corn throughout the county was killed. Remember The Democrat when you want sale bills printed. A free notice in the paper with each set of bills, and everybody reads The Democrat. F. W. Mauck, son John, and daughter Miss Kate, left Tuesday morning for a visit with F. E. Mauck at Anderson and to take in the state fair. They will return to-day. The .commissioners were in special session Saturday and petitioned the county council for an appropriation for a reward to offer for the Luse murderers.—Monticello Journal. If no successful opposition develops, Dunnville will soon have a saloon, George F. Ketch mark having given notice of his intention to apply for license at the October term of commissioners’ court. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Paxton of Albany, Ind., came Saturday for a visit with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Moore, after which they will goto Lamar, Colo., where they will make their future home. Ralph Alkire who is clerking in Laßue Bros, department store, was married last week to Miss Carrie Atkins of Monticello, and will set up housekeeping in the Mrs. Adams property, just south of school building number two.
