Weather pleasant. '1 he hum of the threshing machine is yet to be heard. Miss Nellie Gtay will teach the Lawndaleschool this year. Mr. Mitchell of Remington, was a caller het e hist Monday. Turner Bros, of Remington, were callers here last Monday. Miss Sophia Scheurrcb, spent Sunday with her parents here. Messrs. Smith and Spillman of Milroy, •were callers here this week. The democrats are feeling jubilant over the situation at present. The Sharon Y. P. S. C. E. elected new officers at their meeting last Sunday ■evening. Some of our boys will go to the north part of the county to aid in hay-making next week. Mrs. D. V. Garrison and Miss Morns of Remington, visited over Sunday at G. ■G, Garrison’s. Harry Jackson, of Mackinaw, 111., is visiting his nrotlu-r and other Jasper county friends. Miss Ora Duval! and mother of Rensselaer, were the guests of A. L. Duvall and wife last Sunday. Geo. Myers, of Washington, Illinois, was here the first of the week looking after his farm in Jordan township. John L. Duvall, formerly located at Rensselaer, was a visitor here a few days ago. He has a law office at Arcadia, Ind. The republicans oi Rensselaer have aide-tracked McKinley, so we are informed, and organized a Lincoln club. Looks bad,doesn't it? Word has been received here that Mr. Job Banes, of Carpenter tp., who wefit to Arizona and other western points for his health, is lying at the point of death.
