ARTHUR SEWALL DEAD.
Famous Shipbuilder and Democratic Lender Expires. Arthur Sewull died at his summer home. Small Point, about twelve miles from Bath, Me., Wednesday morning. Death was due to apoplexy, the stroke having l>een sustained He was ill yea*s of age. z Mr. Sewall had not iieen in good health for some time, although lie was not considered to be seriously ill. He had been advsed by his physician as early ns last Jane to rest, and he attended the Democratic national convention in July against the advice of his doctor. He appeared to have suffered no ill effects from the journey, however, and wns passing the summer quietly at Small Point when the fata! stroke seized him. The uneonsciousnews which followed the attack continued until death came. Arthur Sewall, shipbuilder and shipowner, Democratic candidate of 1890 for the vice-presidency, wns born in Bath, Me.. Nov. 25, 18S5. He was the son of William D. Bewail, who in IH2.'!, began In Bath the business of shipbuilding. The family was noted hi New Englund for sevet-.il generations. Of this family was Judge Xninuei Sc wall, conspicuous in the early annals of Boston. Through n large part of this century the firm at Bath were the chief constructors of the “merchant marine” in this country.
