Misses Ophelia Lees and Harriet and Della Yeoman are attending the Parker training school at Chicago. The Chicago Glee Club gave a concert at Meadow Lake cliuroh Tuesday evening, several from town attended. \ Mr. Geo. Eck’s little duughter died Friday, July 6. The funeral was held at the Catholic church Saturday afternoon. The ladies.of the Presbyterian church gave a tea at the home of Mrs, Wm. Gier Thursday, which was well attended. W. C. Kirk, who left here a few months ago for Oklahoma, is-now running a three-chair barber shop In Oklahoma City. Mrs. Frank Phillippl accompanied her daughters, Mesdames Wood in and Pepperdihe, to their home iu Hammond Saturday. Phil Ciowry is carrying his arm in a sling as a result of being thrown from a buggy In a runaway while returning from the fair grounds July 4, His shoulder was fractured by the fall. Mm. George Fisher, who with her children came here recently from Lake City, lowa, to spend the summer, was summoned to Seattle, Wash., last week by a telegram from her husband. George, it seems, has been at Dawson City, Alaska, for some time, and, as near as we can learn at this writing, came down to Seattle and sent for his wife to meet him there. He expects to return to the Klondike again, we understand. At 3 oelock Sunday afternoon the layiug of the Corner Stone for the new $16,000 Catholic church occurred. Au eloquent address was delivered by Rev. Fr. John Guendling, of Ft. Wayne. About S2OO was collected, besides dinner and refreshments were served on the grounds. The money taken in will go for the benefit of the church. Excursion trains were run from various points aud brought an immense crowd of people to Remington.
