THE DAY WE CELEBRATE.
The official program for the 4th of July amusements will be issued Monday, we understand, and will contain a varied list of entertainment from early dawn until late at /light. t The first thing on the program will be the firing of a salute immediately after midnight and the ringing of all the bells in the city. This will be the signal that the 4th has arrived, and will cause the small boy's slumbers for the remainder of the night to be broken J>y dreams of cannon crackers and red fire. The Mt. Ayr band will start the ball rolling again shortly after dawn with choice selections from patriotic airs. At 9:30 the big parade will be given, composed of the Rensselaer and Remington bands, fire department, secret orders, decorated carriages, horsemen, etc., etc., followed by the Zoyarows in trapeze performaces, and the oration by Col. R. P. DeHart. = The afternoon program will be started with music by the two bands, followed by athletic events, consisting of the “tug of war,” obstacle race, foot races, boxing contest, etc. Then will come the mule and broncho races, etc., and vaudeville entertainments by special artists in this line, trapeze etc. A gold medal bowling content between country teams has been arranged for those who like this form of amusement. At 7:30 p. m , a band contest by the Reusselaer, Remington and Mt. Ayr bands will be given, followed by the fireworks display of 225 pieces of the finest work of the fire-jugglers’ art. In addition to all this will be platform dances, shooting galleries, merry-gO-roundsand other amusements which the visitor may or not may patronize, as he pleased. All the regular events and amusements will be absolutely FREE to all who may come.
