Iveutucky Legislature has appropriated $109,000 as reward for the detection of Goebel's murderer. At Nashville, Tenn., Capt. E. M. Carroll, chief of the tire department, was thrown from his buggy and bis skull fractured. Lieut. Lclnnd James of the battleship Texas nnd one of the engineers of the Boston in the battle of Manila, was married in Mobile, Ala., to Miss Bessie Wheeler of that city. The Illinois Central limited, which left New Orleans carrying John W. Kelsey of the Washington Park Club, Frank E. MeAvoy of Hawthorne, W. H. Laudeman and others, collided with a freight train seveuty miles south of Memphis. The two cugines, with the mail car, were derailed. None of the passengers was injured. John Lewis Howard, 18 years old, who recently made a confession implicating his mother in his father’s murder, died at Middlesboro, Tenn. Almost with his last breath the lad made the startling revelation that he murdered his father, shooting him to death at the instigation of his mother, now Maudy Parker, she having married agaiu. John Drnslimal, aged 12, and his mother, Agnes, have been committed to jail at Mobile, Ala., charged with murder in the first degree. The boy freely admits the murder of Bessie Miller, 18 years old, whom lie shot a few days ago at Coden. He says that (he murdered girl, together with two others, were throwing missiles at his mother’s horse and his mother told him to shoot Bessie, which he did. Vandals stripped the State capitol building at Frankfort, ICy., of the emblems of mourning with which the front of the building was draped on account of the death of William Goebel. The workjnust have required the co-operation of a number of people and occupied some time. The soldiers were on duty during the nighr. Capt. Cochran, who is in charge, will hold a court of inquiry.
