TOWN OF SANTA ROSA TAKEN.
Filipinos Routed After a Brisk Fight with Young’s Forces. Gen. Young captrfred Santa Rosa Saturday after a brisk fight with the Filipino insurgents. The enemy was intrenched on the northern side of the Tuboatin river just below Santa Rosa. The Americans opened fire on them, forcing them back from their positions, and then crossed the river with great difficulty on account of the stream’s swollen condition. The insurgents scattered before the American advance on the town. Gen. Long, commanding Gen. Lawton’s advance, left San Isidro Friday for Cabanatuan. His progress was made difficult owing to numerous streams and marshy country. Santa Rosa ia half way between no insurgents at Cabanatuan. The gunboat Laguna de Bay dispersed a force of rebels who were engaged in constructing trenches beyond Santa Rosa. The boat was fired upon by a. party of insurgents bearing a white HagiJ It is reported that Aguinaldo and the Filipino congress are still at Tariac. There are about 500 insurgents before Angeles. Two thousand rebels are at Bamban, five miles to the north. Gen. Bates has been recalled from San Fernando and ordered to sail for the Southern islands aa soop as possible.
