THE COMMON COUNCIL.

The regular semi-mouthly council meeting was held Monday evening, with all members present. Motion was made and carried that city buy crushed rock for street repairs of Iroquois Imp. Co., ' at $1 per yard. I Sidewalks condemned on Franklin street from Division to Vine, and 20 days given to make new cement walk four feet wide. Jefferson and Vine street sewers reported and clerk ordered to give notice as required by law. Mrs. Seibsues city for possession of Scott street; goes by default. Bids for construction Plum at., sewer: J. H. Jessen 20 cents per lineal foot and $5 for catch basins; Chas. Platt, 15 cents per foot and $5 for catch basins. Mayor ordered to enter into contract with Platt. Opera house license remitted for 1899-1900, The ordinance fixing the tax levy for the city of Rensselaer was adopted as follows: Corporation, 25 cents. Road, 15 cents. Special Additional. 16 cents. Sinking Fund, 5 cents. School library, 1 cent. Water Works. 15 cents. Electric Light, 10 cents. Special School, 40 cents. Tuition. 35 cents. County Library. 3 cents. All taxes hereby levied * may be paid in installments of one-half on or before the first Monday in May, 1900; the remaining one-half on or before the first Monday of November, 1900.
