The Doctor’s Prescription.

Abernethy, the celebrated surgeon, was no respecter of persons, and for plain speaking was a terror to many a purse-proud man. A lazy, wealthy individual asked him in fear and trembling what was the cure for gout, a disease caused by his luxurious mode ’ living. “Live on sixpence a day,” was the doctor’s reply, "and earn it!”. — 4 : ..J.
