Women of China.

The women of China have a curious mob law which they try on tlie offenders—when a mother-in-law, for instance, goes too far in her cruel treatment of the daughter-in-law and beats her to death. In some cases the murderess is caught by the mob of women armed with awl? and sharp metal pins, dragged into the street, stripped of her clothing and pricked and jagged furiously. She is then dragged over the stones the full length of the street two or three times, and finally left after pushing a quantity of briars into her flesh.
