Be Is ths Head of the Baptist Tens* People’s Union. John H. Chapman, who was re-elect-ed at Richmond, Va.. as president of the Baptist Young People’s Union of ’America, is one of Chicago’s sterling business men who finds time and means to be intensely interested in religious work and ways. Mr. Chapman was ever an earnest Christian. He was especially concerned with the work of Baptist training for Baptist young people. This desire formed an excellent cry ata IHm tion In the organization in Chicago of the society of which he is the head. The union sprang into life in 1890, and Mr. Chapman was its first president Religious bodies appreciate
a good and faithful servant Thus at their second annual meeting the young Baptists confided the destinies of their union onee more to the hands of their unselfish leader, and at each succeeding convention the organization has reelected him. No other name has even been suggested for the place. Among his young co-worker? Mr, .Chapman is regarded with genuine affection. Tney 'feel that his life has gone out Into their work, and* that they can trust impliclty to his guidance. To his sincerity and earnestness is due In great measure the success of the union, and its methods and principles have been shaped by him alone. Mr. Chapman Is a native of England, and is 46 years old. He began business life as a clerk in a grocery store, and was for several years a traveling salesman.
