CYCLONE SMASHER.

Betts, a Chicago m»n- The device has been offered to the United States Government by the inventor. The annihilator is a small cannon with a weather vane and an air trigger. The weather vane is for the purpose of aiming the cannon, which rests upon a vertical pivot. When a cyclone approaches, the vane tarns the cannon so it points directly at the funnel-shaped cloud. When the wind reaches a velocity •f sixty-five miles an hoar it will spring the trigger and fire the cannon.
