A special dispatch from Glace Bay, C. 8., one mile from the Caledonia mine of the Dominion Coal Company, says an explosion, accompanied by terrible loss mt life, occurred there. More than forty men were in the pit when the explosion occurred and nearly all of them perished.

Three men who left Dahl river, Alaska, on Dec. 5 for Jim town were not heard as again and they were supposed to hare been lost The men were Michael Daly, Victor Ediar aad M. Provost. They were from Providence, IL L. Woonsocket, RL, and Brockton, Mass., respectively. Their bodies were discovered seventeen miles from the mouth of Old Man's creek, they having lost the trail aad become bewildered. Daly’s body was found partly eaten, in a tent on the stove, just a# it was left when death overtook the others. The other two men were found dead fire miles away from the tent. The fact mt the tent flaps being shut down when found would seen) to preclude the possibility of Daly’s body having been eat— by animals.

Bradstreet’s commercial report says: “Weather and crop conditions figure to a greater extent than usual this week, not only in the domain of actual distribution, but in their effect op values of staples, particularly agricultural products, a majority of which are higher. Wheat, including Hoag, shipments for the week aggregate 2,798,471 bushels, against 3,158.047 bushels last week. Cora exports for the week aggregate 3.285,301 bushels, against 3r 339,839 bushels last week.”
