The Library Opened.

“The “Jasper Public Library” wa* formally opened last Friday evening by an entertainment in the east court room, consisting o i music, speeches, declamations, ate. The library will be kept open 'one hour each day during the week, from 4:30 to 5:30 p. m., mad from 1:00 to 6:00 p, m., on Saturdays. Over 1,100 volumes axe now in the library and some thirty periodicals are received regularly. R. S. Dwiggins, R. B. Pbrter and W. H. Coover have been appointed to notify the county commissioners of the organisation of the library, that they may appropriate money in aid thereof, which, we are informed by the President, cannot be less than 120 per year nor more than $75. L. A Hamilton, D. B. Nowels and J. F. Warren were appointed as a committee to confer with the township (Marion) and City (Rensselaer) school authorities with the view of having the existing township and school library turned over to tile Jasper library, as we aaderatand the matter. Another committee consisting of Frank Folia, A. Parkinson and J. J. Hunt was appointed tcrgfcifer with the city council with the view of having the council levy a library Subscribe for The Democrat.
