Jasper County Democrat, Volume 2, Number 2, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 22 April 1899 — COMMISSIONERS' COURT. [ARTICLE]

COMMISSIONERS' COURT.

According to a verbal statement of the auditor —the record not being written up nor the call spread thereon at this writing—a special session of the county commissioners was held Tuesday and Wednesday. We are unable to state just what business was transacted, but from the docket we learn that S4OO was allowed on Keener townshipgravel road in one item, and another item states that “H. L. Gamble, engineer, estimate and recommendation Keener township gravel roads,” was “allowed at $1,319.77,” Recommendation approved and the superintendent of construction was directed, if possible, to enter into contract with C. E I. Ry. Co., as per recommendation of the engineer, at cost j for 10 months not to exceed SIOO per i month. The record does not show • what the recommendation was j ! about. No other business what- ; ever is shown by record at this i writing to have been transacted, i but it is quite likely some business pertaining to the drains on the county treasury was done and will appear on the records when the i auditor recovers sufficiently from his frght of being placed on the witness stand a few days ago to testify against a former brother officer. ,
