FAIR OAKS.
—Abe Bringle is building a summer kitchen. —Frank Hodge is at Grant Harmon’s sick with inflammatory rheumatism. —Rev. A. E. Pierson of Good Hope, visited Grandpa Keener’s a few days last week. —Rev. J. L. Brady held regular services at the Christian church here last Sunday p. m. —Mr. and Mrs. Watt Reynolds and children of Rensselaer, visited relatives here last Sunday. —The schools here cloeed last Tuesday with not many spectators in attendance, there being a funeral at the church across the street from the school house. —As next Sunday is Quarterly meeting at the M. E. church of this place, Presiding Elder Beck will be here and preach Sunday evening. He is an able man and will no doubt deliver an excellent sermon. —Mr. Noland, of Lee, Grandma Fenwick of near Foresman, Mr. Comer of North Barkley, and some others whose names we did not learn, were in attendance at the Holiness meeting which was held at the school house here last Saturday and Sunday, —The four applicants from Fair Oaks school, who attended the examination at Parr, two weeks ago, all received passable credits. This news no doubt is very pleasing to •their teacher, Mias McGowan, who bad shown very oommendable efforts in her instructions to the pupils. —S. E. Renicker and Jos. Sawyer of Rensselaer, made * a flying trip to Fair Oaks last Tuesday. Mr, R. came for the express purpose of eating ..dinner with Sam Thornton. The mission of Mr. S. seems to have been to make a sewing machine sale with Mr. Thornton..
—Hon. I. S. Wade of Lafayette, frill be in this township delivering lectures from April 6th to 9th, inclusive. Will be at Parr, April 6th, in the evening. The evening of the 7th at Brushwood, and the evenings of the Bth and 9th at the Christian church, at Fair Oaks. Everybody oome out, he is a fine speaker and will say many good and' interesting things. —The wife of Mr. Wesley Odell, who lives about a mile from town, died last Sunday at 3:46 p. m., after a short illness of neuralgia and heart disease. Her mother and brother from south of Indianapolis, were present at the funeral. Rev. Sawyer of the M. E. church, conducted the funeral Services which were held at the M. E.
church here last Tuesday at 10 a. m. The deceased leaves a husband, three step-sons, two brothers and a mother to mourn her departure. The remains were laid to rest in Fair Oaks cemetery.
