It is reported from Chicago that Joseph Letter is at the bottom of a movement for the organization of a milk trust, which is “to regulate the price of milk on the price of butter.” Dnring the first nine months of 1898 there were 2,220 miles of new railroads constructed in the United States. This exceeds the total mileage of any entire year since 1893. A. H. Long, a tenant on the Adam Decker farm, near Nittany, Pa., this year raised 1.228 bushels of corn on scant eight acres of ground. This would be 153)4 bushels to the acre.
