A special dispatch from Madrid aaye the King of Spain is suffering from an attack of the measles. The monsoon prevails and rains have fallen throughout India. The crop situation is therefore satisfactory and all fears of a famine have been allayed. Von Yeltheim, who shot and killed Woolf Joel, the trustee of the estate of the late Burney Barnato, the South African millionaire, March 14 last, was acquitted of the charge of murder. At Yokohama, it is reported that Hawaii has agreed to pay Japan £40,000 sterling, in settlement of the dispute which arose out of the exclusion of Japanese emigrants from the Hawaiian Islands. The Compagnie Generate Transatlantique at Paris has given to the press the report of Captain Aubert, who was charged by Edouard Lockey, minister of marine, with the inquiry into the disaster to La Bourgogne. It goes very fully into details and is accompanied by proofs, completely vindicating the crew of La Bourgogne of the charge of having attempted to assure their oxvn safety regardless of that of the passengers. The Government of Hayti has declined to permit the United States Government to establish a weather station on its domain. Its action follows a request for this privilege made by the Secretary of State at the instance of the Secretary of Agriculture, with an express explanation of the purposes sought, aud that the Haytian Government would thus get the ben? efit of our weather service. The declination, however, was definite, and doubtless was based on a fear it would offend against neutrality between the United States and Spain.
