He is held to await the action of the l oroner's jury, lie resides at Fifth street, this city, ith his wife and Ihne children. The three bodies discovered this morning buried beneath the front of the l.eh';rli Valley engine were brought to this city and placed in the morgue. The woman is unknown and unrecognized. The two boys were apparently about ten years of a-e. 'Ihe tracks have'tetn cleared dud the trains are running on .schedule time. All that remains of the wreck is the I.ehijih Valley engii.e, wliicli is completely destroyed. It will be dug out some time to-day. and it thought that inore botlies will be found. There have been eight deaths in all, and jrost of the wounded will, it is thought, die. The depot is surrounded by a crowd awaiting news, and great excitement prevails here. The bodies at the morgue have not lec-;i ideiitil'.ed. The following is a full list of the dead and wounded, as far as known: Killed Karl JJenry Jroinmer, aged thirty years, Norwegian, head taken ot.'. Jle waived an examination, and was held to it wait the action of the Coroner's rcrdict. .Norman I Jlowe, counsel for Pratt, makes the follow ingitatement: I'ratt was statitmeJ in the Marion signal tower, near the .station f'f that name, lie controlled the eat section of the road, known as a block, extending from Marion to the fisu liotjve on the Iiackensar-k Meadows, about tLrf Diih disUint. It was his duty reorl the of trains and their passing th fish house, tivou a tally-sheet whiili lay before him. The emigrant train had passed his station thirteen miiiTites before the western e.xpress npproached. I'ratt glanced at his sheet, ami mistook another entry for the record of the emigrant train having passed the fih house. The emigrant tain had left on the block, however, having backed down to pick up two ears which had broken loose from the train. In his statement to hief of J'olice Murphy, Pratt admitted thai he had not recorded the signal from the fish bouse, but took, it for granted that the block was clear because of the thirteen minutes which had elapsed. Superintendent t.rawioni, ot tue ew ork division, states that an investigation shows that I'rat alone is responsible. ( A white signal, denoting clear .track, was shown, and. justified the engineer of the express train in running rn the block. Connty J'hyician Converge is satisfied that therö ax? but seven bodies at the Morgue,
The supposition that were eight war eaued by the mixing up of the dismembered limbs f the women found this morning. Throngs of people in search of the latest particulars of last night's disaster continue to visit the dcjHJt of the Pennsylvania Kailway Company, but in the majority of cases little information can be riven them, as the uninjured persons have been forwarded to their destinations. Uesides having personal interviews, Superintendent Crawford and his clerks have been kept busy replying to lfoods of telegrams from all parts of the country. )i the even bodies at the Morgue, five have liecn identified. They are those of Karl II. flommer, of Norway, "his wife Maragret. and their two sons, William and John. They were on their way to Pottle Creek, Mich. The fifth body is that of Mrs. F-arneas. aged thirty-five, w ho was going to join her father at Madison, Wis. The remaining bodies are those a woman found to-day, and a boy found last night. Neither have been identified. Coroner Hughes has been ordered to hold an impiest which will begin its sessions in this city Thursday evening. The jury lias been impaneled. They viewed the bodies to-day. The wrecked Lehigh Valley engine was raised at 7:"0 p. m. In the mud beneath the boiler was found the body of a boy, apareutly ten years of age. IJoth legs were olY below the knees, the right side of the face was crushed in, and the hands were scorched. Jlesides the body was found the right leg of a loy, w ho was presumably almut twelve years of age. The member does not corresjond with any of the bodies now in the morgue.
