About three weeks ago John 1'wing and Geerge Ford, both of whom lived in Lexington, Ind., became involved in a difficulty regarding some land, l'wing picked up a fence-rail and druck t'ord three tunes on tl.e back, knocking him to the ground and renderin.g him uncons ions. Ford was at the time of tlie trial in a serious condition, and lincored until last Sunday, when he breatlied his last. Ford was ciphty-tive years of aire, and has had : .singularly, unfortunate experience. Thirty years ago his wife died in. Illinois under very suspicious circumstances. He was a rich and influential farmer at the time. Notwithstanding thi, lie was arrested and charged with i)isoiiin her. When he was finally acquitted the bulk of his fortune was frone, lie shortly after dcedol eighty acres of land to each of hisscvcral grown children. Hill Fasley then ran in the house, got a double-barreled shotgun, leveled it on I'.rown, but the cap snapped. Urown than shot Fasley in the left side and it is thought he w ill die. Frown, after the shooting, telephoned to Nahhville about his trial, and finding out it was not necessary for him to be there for some days left saying he would go back home.
