The Democrats 3Iake Lare ("aim ia Coniiclhiien and Aldermen. . A Quiet Day and a Good Vote A Close Shave for tha R3puDlican Ticket. The election yesterday passed off very quietly in the city and the usual interest wits taken in the several Wards and the result looked for with eagerness. The Democrats have made larue pains iii the city, and tuougii the Republican city ticket lias been elected, it was by tlie skin of their teeth. The election for Councilnien shows decided gains or the Democrats, and they will not have less than twelve, and perhaps thirteen members in that body. Taisisa s-'ain of five member.'', and the gain in the IJoard of Aldermen is correspondingly Jarpe. All in al!, the i:y Democracy have cause to congratulate tlieinselves on the result, and, while defeated on the city t.tket, have in fact gained a victory, as the Republican vote ba been cut dow n and the jjan.,; badly de-, moralized. The gains are so marked that the party which has been struling against Hepublican odds is emboldened by its suit cess and will continue the tight till the right prevails, an event which yesterday's election demonstrates to be in the near future. The Republicans claim McMasler's election by 2"1. but the official count will no doubt show it to be below tli's figure. Uonrd of Aldermen. republicans elected: H.J. Prier, T. J. Endlev. It U a cream of tartar powder of a hfh uepree of merit, and docs not contain either al am or phosphates, or other Injurious ßubstances. E. G. Love, Ph.D." "It it a scientific fact that the Royal Baking Powder is absolutely pure.'' " II. A. Mott, PI ,D." B I have examined a package of Royal Baking Powder, purchased by Lvyself ir. the market. I find il entirely free from alum, terra alba, or any other injurious pubstjcc. IIenrt Mohtox, Ph.D., Presidetit of Stevens Institut e of Technology." " I have analyzed a package of Royal Bakintr Powder. The raatcriab of which It U composed are pure and wholesome. S. Dana Uatis, State Assaycr, Mass." The Roval Baking Powder received the hif;he6t award over all comnetitors at tlie Vienna '"World's Exposition, 13 ; at the Centennial, Philadelphia, lSVtf ; at the American Institute, and at State Fairs throughout the country. No other article of human food haa ever received such high, emphatic, and universal endorremcnt from eminent chemists, physicians, scientists, aud Boards of Health all over the world. Note. The above Diagram Illustrates the comparative worth of various Baking Powders, as ehown by Chemical Analysis and experiments made by Prof. Schedler. A one pound can of each powder was taken, the total leavening power or volume in each caa calculated, the result being as Indicated. This practical test for worth by r.-of. Schedler only proves what every observant consumer of the Royal Baking Powder knows by practical experience, that, while it costs a few cents per pound moro than ordinary kinds, it is far more economical, and, besides, affords the advantaze of better werk. A 6lngle trial of the Royal Baking Powder will convince any fair minded pcrsoa of these facts. While the diagram shows some of the alum ponders to be of a hißher degree of strength than other powders ranked below them, It is not to be taken as indicating that they have any value. All alum powders, no matter how high their strength, are to be avoided as dangerous.
