A HOST UOBKIKLE ACCIDENT. A Lady Cruahed to Death toy an EUrator. Sah Feascuco, CaL. April 29 A peculiar accident occurred in the Nevada Block elevator to-day, rfnülMng la the horrible death of an unknown woman. Aboatnoon the levator, which is tn the line bank building of Flood .t Fair, bonanza kings, went up as usual, with a woman, a man and the eleTator boy. Betweea the first and second floor acme of the hoisting machinery got oat of trier and the cage became fast. In io the attendant endeavored to move it upward or downward. , He then climbed up the side of the cage and opened the trapdoor oa top. Perceiving that a person couM climb from the cage tcp to the second floor landine. he sa informed the lady, and then agisted her through the trap oiienirg As she was climbing through the iecond floor doorway the cage suddenly shot upward, and htr body was caught between it and the , casing over the door. Death must have ensued ' instantly. The body was bo wedded in between: the cage and ibe door that it was found imnossible to move the oage withe nt rutting away the wood work, and caroenteM were sent for. The bidy remained f-r nearly an hour and a half in the pj?ition where the elevator left it, the heart biiu cauvbt between the front of the top of the rK and the casine rf the elevator well. It wai a sight horrible in the extnne, yet it attracted crowds of lonle. At last two workmen from the main elevator factory came, and getting upon ihe top of the atz piid tin the Bprinzof the safety cateb, and with a rnh the enge fell to the floor be low, where it was caught again by tbe spring. The body fell thro'ih the hole in the cas. Fpon examination it was found that the neck of the unfortunate woman was broken and the face horribly disfigured, the naal bones being torn off and the eyes torn fron their sockets. There were cuts about the rest of the face, bat eo little remained of her features that it was impoi ble almost to identify her by sight She was plainly drewed. about fortv years of ase, and hdd about (400 in her pocket. Charles F. Krfng, the fauious murderer of Mrs. Dora Brcmaer, was admitted to bail to-day in the som of $3,0i. St. Loci, April 29 Dispatches from Waco and other places in Texas to the Asso ciated Press say: "The cyclone of Friday last waa very severe throughout a large section of the State west and southwest of Fort Worth and Dalla. A house near Milano Junction was destroyed and one of the farm bands killed. A school house at Mount Vernon was destroyed and three children injured. Auother school house at McGreggor was blown down and nine children were serious-ly wounded. At l!ock Church, the houte of Cliti liranharu was entirely demol ished and hi ui be if and wife killed. One child wa blown several hundred yards away, and bis three children could not be found. William Scott and a man named Mitchell, living in the ean neighborhood were killed.and two old ladies, named ft raves aud Don nan, badly wounded the former fatally. Galvkstok, April 'J9 A Kenton special says: "At 4 o'tock this afternoon a ttrriflic storm swept four miles north of here, tearintrdown houses and demolishing tverytbing in its path. Washington, April 25 The Commis sioner of Internal Kevenue has issued a cir cular setting forth the law with regard to the redemption of internal revenue checks and proprietary stamps, and announcing tte regulations to govern such redemption. Tbe most important of these regulations are the following: Check and general proprietary stamps will be redeemed at their facti value. less 5 per centum; private die proprietary stamps at their face value less 5 or 10 per centum, according to she rate of com mission allowed on their purchase. Stamps may be exchanged for other check or proprietory stamps of eual value until July L In cases where claims for redemption of unprinted stamps are allowed pricr to July 1, blanks upon which stamps are printed will be destroyed. In case f such claims allowed on or after July 1, blanks will be destroyed, nnl the claimant shall especially request tbeir return, in which cae the word "redeemed"' will be impressed on the check or dralt, and blanks so cancelled will bn returned to the claimant by registered mail, free of expense, unless be shall otherwise direct, lu which cae they will be returned at bis expense. In cases of rejected claims, stamps are always returned to the claimant. Stamps will only be redeemed when presented by the bora tide owner, or da!y authorized rpent or representative of such owner.
