I To-day at noon an important bill was filed in the United States Circuit Court, in which Cyrus II. McCormick, the famous reaper maker and Inventor, of Chicago, appears as complainant and the Minneapolis Harvester Works as defendant. The suit is for dam ase for infrigement of patent on grain binders, the damages to be assessed, and also to restrain defendant from f urti man ufacturiug and using the patent ir iKed, The feature in the contest is the YIELDING CORD-HOLDE'-" in connection Tith the knot-tying Imachah ism. The bill sets forth in detail wherein th infringement consists, it being whollyin the above-mentioned mechanism. The point is apparently preponderatingiy in favor of the McCormick Company, as last week. William N. Whitley, the Champion Machine company of bpnngheld, U., were forced lo pay $100 O'JO. and did pay that amount in cash, for the same infringement, and other manufacturing establishments are being negotiated for settlement for the use of theGorhsm patents, which are controlled by McCormick and others. The present suit in this Court is confined to the mechan ism mentioned, which is owned and con trolled exclusively by McCormick. ihree other bills than the above are ready for filing in thi3 Court, but were with held to-day. They are against the St, I'au Harvester Works and others. The firstnatuel Company, through Mr. Dean, desire that they should be withheld for delibera tion.
