A nncij? special to the Cincinnati Commercial says: The mystery which hai always hung about the case of James B. Doyle, the alleged confederate of . Brock way, alias Spencer, wno was convicted of counterfeiting a fortnight ago. was increased today when the prisoner appeared for sentence. Instead of being cast down, the prisoner exhibited the uta osl hilarity. This täte of feeling was somewhat explained when the District Attorney arose and said that he bad received from Washington instructions to withdraw a motion for immediate sentence. The defense then demanded that the prisouer be admitted to heil, and that tha amount be- reduced to llO.OiiO half what it was before. Judge Dyer raid it was not the practice of his Court to grant bail after conviction. He then suspended sentence tot thirty days, and reminded tae prisoner tack
t- the i-11-tody of the Marshal. The pritouer. Doyle, whn tne Court or Jered bim taw'k to Jail, threw bu k his head and silled, as if the whole thing rea joke. "U t you expect to be admitted to ball 7" the prls 1 icr was asked "l'es You kiiow the J tulge refused lull thU mo-tiinji. but I expect to get out. anyay."

'D you believe in Divine interference in uch ca.se s."' "Yes (with a slguifictnt twinkle of his gray eyes), if vou keea your iowder drr." The United ftatee Dibtrict Attorney aaid: "I don't know anything more about it than you do I rimply got a telegram ordering a suspension c senteucs. 1 can only gues like you or an body else." "My suspicion is that an a?cnt of the defenre has been sent down to Washington ofTerlng to make some mysterious mtrreuder of something, or make ome startling distaosurea. It is now remembered by thoe who have beeu familiar with the case throughout that the Special Agents, when here at the last trial, charged that llrockway had not turned ud certain lraporiant plates which he had been expe.-ted to when ho was released. On the trial here a few weeks ago. when questiouel as to these he declared that there were plates buried which he had never been able to find. The quidnuncs are certain that Brockway or iMyle has suddenly remembered where thee valuabie pieces of metal are, and that in this extremity they will be produced and surrendered to save toe "party out West,' as Doyle hai always been termed " itKri iJLicvx biiirm ii.oiNG. The Tobacco Market. LOUISVILLE i:y.t May '21 -During the rast week the r-.-ceipts cf leaf tobacco amounted to 2,310 hogsheads, against l,tso the previous week snd 1.S20 in the corresponding week of last year. The large increase in receipts, tho week's aggregate being about the largest of the year, is sequence of tue excellent and long spun out wet spell which preceded the wek and followed a pro'.r-cted spell cf weather, which prevented striking aud prizing either day, or cold atid harsh, or ooin, accoramg to country advices, lne pretnt run will biii.5 nearly all the remnant of crops to-the market There is doubtless a small p reell! a ee to come forward, speaking relatively to former years that ttere is sliil a good deal of tobacco held here and tliere iu ihe conutrv. The weather has been rutlier favcraole, tbough still the temptratuie is lower than r.crniai The oiTerinEs of dark and heavy tobacco have been of an off character generally, with but a very ft-w sample of pure types ana a'large percentage of nondescript leaf and lugs. The supply of these descriptions hss taxed the demand uud prices have not been regularly steady. Lugs and non-d-script lea die(ea perceptibly near the begininland were irregularly easv during the woek, but on ihe last day or two have been steadier. Prices do net vary uiaierh-Ly frum th4se previously noticed, which showed a at el ne. UVful descii;tioiss have been relatively active and steady at previous priot 8. Burley tobacco has been active and strong for good grades. 6teady for mediums aud irregular for noinleseript styles. Colory offerings haw attracted a lively competition and have sold at full prices. The highest price of the season, 828.50, was paid for cutting hogshead at the Boone warehouse. The Picket sold Hart County wrappers Saturday at 847 50, the highest price of the season or the last two or three years from Kentucky for bright wrappers. Planters might reasonaolv take this as a hint that there is still a large profit in cultivating and curing skillfully yellow wrapping, which as a Kentucky product, was for some time in disfavor. bsbFjT'fs"A1 lliMssliTsli The Great Healing Remedy.
