Aw GoMe Iiule Much apprehension has been occajdoced 'brougbout America from lha announcement tade by Professor Pnctcr that the return lu nineten years of the great comet of last summer will ituw tbe destruction of the earth. But while leople are becauiir.g so strangely exercised over his announceneat aa event f far more serious caportance. which U taking place to-Iay. seems lO be almost waolly overlooked. The nature of tiumostTlUldutjectciabe best explained by relaiiug the following experiences: Pivhcp K. O. Haven, known to the entire land, wss unaccountably awakened one nigtst out of a souid tlcep. und lay awake until rnorLlog. His mind teemed unusually active, and he nt only reviewed his past life, which had been aa eventful one, outlaid extei.slre plaus for the future, lie did not feel especially 111, but cou 11 not account for the unusual activity of hia brain, nor for tbe iCstlesLe--s which seemed to possess him. In the morning ha had but litjie app3tite. but was apparently wj11 In other respects. In a few days, however, he bejaa tJ feel restless and morbid, although ha tried earues.ly to overcome the feelii which had taken possession of hüa, But try as he would, the shadow of some evil 6eemed to follow him. and ho was conscious of gradual hinting and watiiog away of all his phys ical faculties, lie had been an earnest and dil gent worker, aud In his zeal frequently overtaxed his strength, and being absorbed in his dull failed t j obterve tbe coramou symptoms with which he was afflicted, thus permitting the work of destruction to go ou unheeded. But the end li'ii:v etwa lu a most peremptory manner. Shortly o.fure his dee Id he wruta a letter tne lat .li: Uo ever lnd:t-.-d in which he sneaks as loltvwi: Abvinf that death is near Uro tlit feien minds uill'jrenuy, but probably all wno are in a f lircjndiilou of ruo steal and mental wren inii.'.'i'ly shrink from it with an inderlnabl drCK'l a.Lnl liorror. A dying in til Is no more able of himself to foresee his own destiny or the ds tiny of thof-e he leaves than he .vas büf jre he be can to die." Tne reeeut sad and sudden death of lion. Clark sou N. rotter is one of tne most senoua warning evL'r ci veil la the lors list of innumerable cases o fatal neglect. Itis not sulhdeat to fay that many other tjiiuiHiit men. including Everett, Sumner, tDs.M.', U(H3, nibim Aud Cariienter. were twee away by the name iaial trouble. The question is, wrr-: thesomen jükieutly careful of thsirhealih, and could they have been saved? The Alban? It is one of the most deceitful malaaies ever known to the human race. 1; manifests it neu i.y symptoms so sticht ani common as to aeem in, worthy oi atteniicn; and yet these very iasurdÜL-ant symptoms are tho firat stages of the vof;d c-mplaint known in the history oi tne lorld. Tliousduds of peonie Lave died from lr. ubles that are called hem disease, apoplexy, I: euinonio. braia fever and similar diseases, it neu it wad, in fact, Kruht's disease of the kidleys. The ravages of this dLeasc have been trt ally Increased from the fact that until recent evrs no way has len fouud to prevent its betinuing nor check its increase when it had oeKme once fixed upon the system. Within the past two years, however, we have learned of more taan f.jur hundred prouounced cases of llright's dUease. many of them much worse than ihose above described, and most of whom had beeu given up by prominent physicians, who have beeu completely cared. Tne means used to accomplish thi-j end has been Warner's fcale Kidnev and Liver Cure, manufactured ia Rochester, N. Y., a remedy that his won its way into the confidence of the pub ic solely upon the remarkable merits it poNscis. As a result it is more widely used and thorinhly praise .1 than any medicine which has ever been before the American public. ladeed, thsre is not a dru? stare ia the entire laud where it can not bo found. AlthoTit;b F.rlght's disease U so common in cities, it i still more prevalent ia the country. When eminent physicians in the largest cities are not able to recotjmzo hright'a disease. It is only natural that ia tha country, where there are few physicians of any kind, and those few so unacquainted with the disease as to call it by some other name, it should rage terribly and yet unknown to the ones w ho are aaCeriii? with it. Thousands of people can lojk back and recall the death of friends from what was supposed to be some common com;!.tict. when it was reallly Eright's disease, and r.o one knew it. Tho terrible pleuro pneumonia, which has bc?en sodreuded, is usually the result cX uremic or kidney poison. Lung fjvercau be traced to a similar source. Most cases '.I para'ysis arine from the sa-ne difficulty, as wed as innumerable fevers, lung, throat, bead and bo-.Te! troubles A va t number of ladies have uiT-Ttdand died from complaints common to taeir m.'x called, perhaps, general debility, when. could t;.e real cause have been known, it would have been found to be I'.rihl's disease, raasmerading under another name. Ia marked contrast V the 5ad cases which have beea above described are tho experiences of many prominent eop!e who were as low as any of the persons menboned, but who were remarkably restored to Jorratr health and vlor by this same remedy. Ieuster, a Wuconsin Congressman, has a rue idea of the Conjrressman's power and position. In an after-dinner speech, he

It may be interesting to our reader, a3 it certainly was to th? writer, to learn that the -veiu'.-ible Mr. Jßmes Howe, so well known i every one in Lafayette, was at one time in hit ea.ly career intimately associated with Unräte Greeley, who is often spoken t a- i..e father of American newspapers. Mr. Howe's claim to this title, however, is much better than was Greeley V, for Horace was a f vne-setter in the ollice of the Sr.irit of the Tinu?, afterwards Wilkes Sprit of the Time?, and now the Spirit of the Tinus. when Mr. Howe, with a Mr. William T. Porter, under the firm name of Howe & J'orUT, were the founders aad proprietors. LorisvrLLE. April 10. The tendency of the leaf tobacco market has been smooth, and' an even demand and supply hare been well balanced and the market has been singularly free of salient features. Dark aud heavy styles have varied the old programme flixhtly by presenting occasional samples of better grade aud character both of dark manufacturing wrappers and regie types. Nothiug tine has appeared, but some samples have been very presentable, and at least superior to any previous offerings. Dark and heavy leaf ha beeu steady and even throughout the week. Trah and trash Iuks have been dull aad somewhat off. but other grades of lugs have been fairly sustained. Barley tobaccoes have been without noticeable changes of features, the demand for useful styles bving active aud in excess of the supply. There was asale Saturday, noted below, at f 27 60 per hundred pounds, the highest price yet paid on this crop in any market, and a lot of 4 hhds lu which thii was included averaged S20 37S- Receipts were no; so heavy as the previous week owli g to the progress ol the planting season, but aie f till of good volume as cwm;area with last yesr. Sales for the week amounted to 1 s'JOhhds against 1.69 last week, and 1,11 the auie wwk iu i8sl. The receipts for the week were 0 hhds against 1,0'J j last week and 750 last year.
