McCfcnn was convicted in 187. Certain Important evidence being ruled out, he applied fur a newtrial, which w as refused. In 17 McCann was sentenced to prison, but appealed to the Supreme Court of Wyoming and gave bonds. The Supreme Court in March, 1s.hu, reversed the Court lelow and ordered a new trial, which ended at 12 o'clock last night. The jury was out but fifteen minutes. Among the witnesses for the Government was General Smith. former Commissioner of Indian Affairs, now Consul General to Canada, and several army officers ami employes of the Interior Department. Garfield in Poor Health. Cincinnati, Dec. 2. Richard Smith's attention having been called to the publication of an interview, in which he is made to hay that General Garfield is iu a serious condition physically, and that he net-ds careful nursing, says he made no such statement. W hat he do?s say on the subject i?, that traveling with General Garfield from Washington, he observed that he was troubled with indigestion, the result of overwork. Mr. Smith, and others of General Garfield's friends, think he is overtaxed by visitors coming to Mentor, and that lie should go somewhere where he could escape his tax. 'A Young VYomau Burned to Death. . Detroit, Mich., Iec. 3. A servant girl of this city named Wilhelmina Spindler undertook to kipdle a slow-going fire this morning by pouring on k losene oil. The usual result followed the ignition of the oil explosion and setting the girl's clothing on tire. When discovered she w as one mass of rlifmes. Every shred of clothing was burned from the body.
