Deserted by the wretch she dreamed was trne. , , Who shall say, he shall not walk the street He whose son Is perjured by an oath? Christ forgave the woman ; We are too inhuman. Now, with open arms the wretch we greet; Bat she, whose life he wrecked, we scon and loathe. Take him In ! O give him back bis place ! Help him to retrieve his lost good name. Salute him with a kiss Spurn her with a hiss. Mock the anguish playing on her shametinged face. Save the virtue-wrecker "the woman was to blame." REXIGIOCS BOTES. The Roman Catholics have 39 churches in St. Louis, 12 of which are German, 1 is Italian, 1 Bohemian and 1 colored. There are over 200. A ssgacious charity which has been adopted in Philadelphia is worthy of imitation else where. A committee of gentlemen pur chased coal at wholesale and distributed it amone the voor classes in retail lots, but at wholesale prices. The committee gave their time and trouble gratuitously. It is pro posed to establish a similar system for groceries and so forth. Miss Morgan, the well known stock reporter for the New York Times, has under consideration a somewhat similar plan for a co-operative market in Kew York Citv. Her proposition is to asso ciate 50 heads of families who will pay in $25 each to form a fund; these stockholders j to be supplied at their residences with the choicest cats at a moderate profit above the cost, the coarser parts to be disposed of to j poor people at cost; thus providing with wholesome meat at very low rates a large class of the community now compelled to 1 live without meat or to consume only that which is worthless or even of a daDgerous -character. - , FASHIOSf SOIE8Satin is at present a vey fashionable ma terial. It should first be liaed with something bright, either merino, chintz or silk, and the edge may be ornamented with quilled ribbon or braid, with bows at the handles. Make pockets in the lining for holding thread, needles, etc , as in a basket oi this kind these articles are liable to fall ont when laid down on its side. The center of the basket will contain the work itself, and the initials of the owner roav be worked with zephyr on the outside. When it is to be packed of coarse it lies flat on its side, and no matter how much it is pressed the flexible straw will not be injured. Persons preparing useful articles for bazaars will find these very popular and profitable. 9 On Oar 91 out Distant Frontiers As in our busiest and most populous cities of the seaboard ana Interior, Hosietter s smmach Bitters is ore-emlnently popular. ThonsancLt suffer wVthout knowing the na ture of this almost nriversal complaint. It san ulceration of the net Ml. Its Indications are, hawking, spitting, weak. Inflamed eyes, frequent soreness of the throat, dryness and heat of the nose, matter running from the head down the throat, often ringing or deafness In the ears, loss of smell, memory impaired, dullness and diasinesa of the bead, often In the nrst stages, but more commonly in its advan ced stages, attended witn pains In cheat or left side, and under the adoulder blades. Indiges tion usually attends Catarrh ; a hacking cough and colds are very caramon, some have all theae symptoms, others only a part. Very lit tle pain attends Catarrn until the liver and the lungs are attacked in consequence of the stream of pollution running from the head into the stomach. All persons thus affected take cold easily and have frequently a running at the nostrils; the breath sometimes reveals to all around tne corruption within, while the patient has frequently lost all sense of smell. The disease advances covertly, until pala in the chest, lungs or bowels startles him ; be hacks and coughs, has dyspepsia, liver complaint, and is urged by his doctor to take this or that; per haps cod liver oil is prescribed. Perfectly ridiculous! The foul ulcers In the head cannot be reached by pouring such stuff Into the poor, laded stomach. The patient becomes nervous, the voice is harsh and unnatural, he feels disheartened, memory loses her power. Judgment "her seal, gloomy forebodings hang overhead; hundreds, yes, thousands In such circumstances, feel that to die would be a relief, and many even do cut the thread of life to end their sorrows. Sometimes the disease only affects the mem branes lining the nasal paagee, ana tney may be easily reached and cured by simple means Hut when it la located in tne irontai sinus, or In the posterior nares, or if it has entered the eustachian tubes and is inluilng the ears, then nothinz but iinelv medicated vapor can enectually reach It i-nd destroy It. And certainly af ter It ii"s aneciea uih uin-iat, ana bronchial tubes, all wen read physicians will readily attest, nothing can be relied on to effect a permanent cure but thelnhalutton or properly meaicatea vator. TEACHERS Iff OUR SCHOOLS are greatly subject to thts fearful malady. Confinement in close, 111-ventilated school rooms; the over-heated atmosphere, charged with the steaming poison exuding from the bodies of the not always over-clean children, breed this disease with fearful rapidity. Many oi our leaning aivines, lawyers ana prominent business men have tried this remedy with wonderful success. We know Mr. Ch lids as an honest christian man. Cincinnati Daily tiazctte. This neglected onens the way to catarrh, and to a pos sible loss of voice.
