The items for "current expenses" run smoethly through each of the foregoing years, varying from $25.10 to $200 per month, all payable to the steward, but there is no account giTen of the manner in which the money was used. It will be seen from the report that up to 1870 the salaries of officers and employes were about 25 per cent, of the entire expenses of the institute, and from 1870 to 1877 the average ia nearly 40 per cent, of the entire expenses. The manner of keeping accounts at the deaf and dumb Institute is certainly an enigma to any ordinary bookkeeper. As a matter of fact, there are no two of the reports gotten up in the same manner, and the conclusion that the average business man would come to is -that the reports were gotten up for the purpose of misleading the public "We present herewith a statement showing the average attendance, cost of maintenance and total expenditures of the different institutions from 1865 to 1876. The public can judge for themselves as to the gross extra vaeancv of these institutions. The statements are all from the reports of the superintendents of these institutions. We would like to have an opportunity to examine the "current expense" and the "incidental funds," but are willing to wait till we can do bo under democratic administration. The Sentinel has just begun this investigation. We promise to follow It to the cloe, until the radicals, wbo have to long held sway, aDd hare used the people's money in such an extravagant manner, will have been retired to private life. A democratic official can saye 100 per cent in the Blinl Asylum, and the Journal will find no defense for Mr. Churchman. Fifty per cent, can alo be saved in each of the other institutions. Over $100,000 has been lost by the extravagance of theae officials, as will be shown in future articles. r.NSANE ASYLUM. o v . a jo a c c kt B 1 C M W YEAR. Caution to the Public To avoid imposition, purchasers of Waltham watches will observe that every genuine watch, whether gold or silver, bears our trade mark on both case and movement' Gold cases are stamped "A. W. Co." and guarantee certificates accompany them. Silver cases are stamped "Am. Watch Co., Waltham, Mass., Sterling Silver," and are accompanied by guarantee certificates, signed It. E. Robbins, Treasurer. The name "Waltham" is plninly engraved upon all movements, irrespective of other distinguishing marks. This caution is rendered necessary by reason of the fact that our cases are frequently separated from our movements and put upon worthless movements of other makers, and vce versa, thus affecting Injuriously the performance of the watches and vitiating our guarantee, which is intended to cover only our complete watches wholly made by us. It is necessary also became it is so notorious as to be a public scandal, that there is great fraud in the metal quality of both gold and silver cases aa now generally sold. We have demonstrated by frequent assays that many gold and silver cases offered in the market ere debased from 10 to 20 per cent, from the quality they assume to be. This is a fraud upon the purchaser, and accounts for the low price at which such caed watches have been sold. "Eighteen carat" gold, such as the Waltham cases are made ot, is as nearly pure gold as can be made and be durable. It contains 750 1000 of pure gold and 200 1000 of alloy. Sterling Silver (English government standard) contains 925 1000 of pure silver and 751000 of alloy. The Waltham Watches will always be found up to t-he standard represented. For American Watch Co., Eobbixs & Appletos, General Agents, New York. How to Get Sick. IonTa Extract. Prejudice is sometimes apt to Interfere with our comfort in life, and to cause ns to do injustice to some worthy article or object. This was exemplified in the experience of a very worthy lady, a short time ago. Her daughter was a firm believer in the efficacy of Pond's Extract, but such was the elder lady's prejudice against it, terming it a quack medicine, she would not allow it in the house. It happened that the mother severely burned her hand with the fire poker, and while suffering intensely, the younger lady, without intimating her Intention, dressed the hand with the Extract, from a bottle she kept secreted in her own room. Relief from pain was instantaneous, and the result marvelously satisfactory; and when the patient was made acquainted with the remedy doing her so much good, she acknowledged herself in the wrong, and ever afterward was a warm advocate of fond's Extract. Consumption Cared. An old physician, retired from practice, haviDg bad placed in his hands by an East India missionary the formula of a simple vegetable remedy, for the speedy and permanent cure of consumption, bronchitis, catarrh, asthma and all throat and lucg affections, als3 a positive and radical cure for nervous debility and all nervous complaints, after baying tested its wonderful curative powers in thousands of cases, bas felt it his duty to make it known to his suffering fellows. Actuated by this motive, and a desire to relieve human suffering, I will send, free of charge, to all who desire it, this recipe with full directions for preparing and using, In German, French or English. Sent by mail by addressing with stamp, naming this paper, W. W. Bherar, 149 Powers' block, Rochester N. Y. SPECIAL HOT1CE5. As the best evidence of the growing prosperity, it is noted that the sales of ticket in the Extraordinary Grand Drawing, which takes place on Tuesday, December 10, nnder the management and care of Generals Beauregard, of Louisiana, and Jubal Early, of Virginia, are greatly increased. o Fwmvi Results. There are numerous remedies that cure sometimes and become trusted as nseful, but none have ever proved so effectual cured so many and such remarkable cares aa Dr. Ayer's medicines. The Cherry Pectoral has restored great numbers of patients who were believed to be hopelessly affected with consnmption. Ague Cure breaks up chills and fever quickly and surely. Ayer'a Compound Extract of Bargaparilla eradicates scrofula and impurities of the blood, cleanaes the system and restores it to vigorous health. By Its timely use many troublesome disorders that cause a decline of health are expelled or cured. - Ayer's Fills and their effect are too well known everywhere to require any commendation from ns here. Scran ton (Pa.) Times. O It is a fact well established by unquestionable testimony that Hall's Hair Renewer renews, cleanses, brightens, invigorates and restores to Its original color and luster, faded grsy or discolored hair, cheaply, quickly and sorely. The poorest people prefer to buy it and use it, rather than to proclaim in a manner more forcible than words can delineate, through blanched locks or grizzly beard, that they are aged and passing to decay. A very short trial will convince the most skeptical that it does eradicate the seal d disease which rob the hair of It color and life. Fort Bcott (Kan.) Daily Monitor.
