On every side we hear of the most noble efforts being made o raise contributions in aid of the afflicted, while the north with lavish hand is soothing the fevered brows of ; southern sufferer. 6h is building a monument to gratitude which will be lwminoos forever. A VOLrWTKKB. Nashville, Tenn." Aug. "26. Dr.'Thomas' O. Summers, a prominent young physician of this place, left to night for Memphis to volunteer his services in aid of the sick. ; :! AT MEMPHIS.' . ,, , ; Memphis, Tenn., Aug. 26. From 6 p. m. yesterday to noon to-day 76 new cases and 17 deaths were reported. 'Among the dead is W. H. Halstead, with Wheeler, Pickens & Co , and among tbe sick. Sisters Dominica and Yeronca, of La . Salett academy, and Fred Brennan, city editor - of the Appeal. The fever is spreadingto an alarming extent among the colored people. One case was brought from Camp Joe Williams this morning, and fear are entertained , that it will breakout among the refugees there. The work of depopulating the city continues. To-day the weather .has been cloudy and gloomy in the extreme. The fever has not only increased in the city, but has seemed to thwart the efforts to save the lives of many poor people who were moved out of the city, by appealing in two of tbe camps. It is now definitely known that three deaths occurred yesterday at Camp Joe Williams, and several others of the refugees are sick. In addition to these three, a woman also died from heart disease. When found this morning in her- tent her young babe was discovered on its dead mother's breast seeking its wonted nourishment. At a camp near Overton , station on tbe Memphis and Paducah railroad, Charles Fagao died this morning. For the past 24 hours the board of health records show 100 new cases and 26 interments. ' Dr. Alex Erskine was taken down to-day, also Fathers McGavony and Bokel, of St. Peter's parish. Two more of the sisters at La Sallette academy. W. W. White, clerk of the Peabody hotel and Joseph Russell, who bas been actively at work among the sick of tbe odd fellow fraternity. The disease to-day has taken down many negroes. In some neighborhoods sick ones are being found in every household. The Is great need for physicians and nurses. Our own physicians have more than tbey attend to, and many sick having to go for days without the attentions of a nurse. A ride through the districts where tbe fever is tbe worst draws forth many appeals to be directed where or how to obtain the services of a . physician. As a result, many do not receive medical attention until too late to save life. The Howards employ five physicians, but the sick calls are more than they can attend to. Two of our practising physicians have died with the fever, and five others are now down. - at rrrrsBi-Bo. PirTSBi syi, Aug 26. The first case of yel low fever arrived in this city last night on the steamer Abner O'Neal from Wheeling. Investigation discloses the fact that the lady reported in the associated press dispatches, about August 10, to have died in Chicago, after two weeks' use of some reputed remedy for corpulency, had not taken Allan's Anti-Fat, but bad used a preparation put up by a regular physician in Luzerne, Pa. Allan's Anti-Fat is manufactured in Buffalo, N. Y., by the undersigned. We have already sold over 100,000 bottles of it It has therefore been taken by thousands, and we challenge proof that it bas ever harmed -anybody,, unless the-reduction of obese persons from 20 to GO pounds, leaving them healthy and strong, is considered a misfortune. Furthermore, we hereby offer $5,000 reward for evidence showing that it contains poisonous or J-jprious ingredients. We also Offer $5,000 i( we Can not prdvfe that it has reduced numbers of perse ns as stated herein, and always without injury-:It, is said a lie will out travel the truth any time; but we trust that those newspapers that bave misled the pubhc by saying that physicians attributed the lady's death to the use of Anti Fat (which is -only put up by us, the term "Anti Fat" being our trade mark), will correct the false impression they have conveyed by publishing this refutation. We think there Is no other medicine fit to use Jn the family." A lady, Providence, IL I. i Caatlnn. Some unscrupulous tradesmen, desirous of making a larger proSt, are in the habit of selling crude imitations of Pond's Extract, tha great vegetable pain destroyer, representing them as being made from .Witch Hazel, and the same as our remedy.
