been operating a little more freely in some descriptions of goods, and report from the west indicate that Jobbers' stock of cotton goods and prints are getting into good shape, the best evidence of which la see., in the increased number of orders co cuing forward for reassortmen ta. The lobbing trade has been moderately active with a few of the leading houses, but general animation- is still lacking, and some I esitancy is evinced by retailors in commencing their operation hch, however, can not be much longer deferred, lhe city Jobbers have never before been In sue a good condition to do a large spring business, as i hey have ample stocks of goods bouht before the late ad van e in prices, which they are willing to sell on terms which favor the buyers, i Cotton Ooods. Th re has been a moderate movement in all seasonable makes of cotton goods from first and second hands, and agents' prices for the best corporation makes are steadily maintained. Brown and colored cottons have been in fair request, and sales combined with deliveries on account of former orders have been to a considerable amouut. Bleached shirtings continue quiet, and cottonade are moving slowly. Marseilles quilts, towels, piques and white goods are in lair reaeet. Print. Lieht and medium fancy- prints have been taken a U tie more freely, although trsnsctlons vrere small in the aggregate amount, and the demand waa irreicu ar. Shirting and mourning prints were in moderate request; staph ruled quiet, and there was not much animation in wi e prints. As bei ore stated, several of the priuters will curall production next wek (to the extent of nearly äüO cases weekly) which combined with the in creased ex iort demand, will materially lessen the supply, and probably tend to strengthen prices. -Ortton drew goods have been In liberal demand by Jobbers of all tections, who Are In turn distributing these fabrics freely judging by the frequent re-orders which are coming forward from the interior. WOOLEIC GOODÜ. There has been a little more inquiry for spring woolens to-day from out-of-towu buyers, and the sales from firvt hands by personal selection and in the execution of orders were sob u-what larger than usual on Saturday. The agf r-fgate business of tne week in men's wear wo Wens was n t as large as the week previous, but of the most desirable styles of spring caxsimeres, ail wool suitings, worsted coatings and cotton warp worsteds, the sales by agents were to a fair amount, and tweeds, satinets and Kentucky jeans were each placed In small lots to a moderate amount. The distributions by Jobbers were less spirited than expected, and with well assorted stocks awaiting a more active trade with the interior, there is an indisposition on the part of this class of buyers to make further addition to their supplies by new purchases, until there are positive Indications of the probable wants of dealers during the spring months. On the whole, the prospects cotitiuue favorable for a fair seasons traffic, and holders of attractive styles of spring woolens manifest but little anxiety as to the net results of the current season's trade. The produce market is steady and receipts of eggs aud poultry are liberal. The New York market of Saturday is quoted as follows: Fggs Receipts to-day, S.tol bbls. The general tendency of the market during the week has been toward greater firmness, with a slight inclination toward speculative teeling. Apoitiouof the arrivals were ordered into store ou a full liralt, and on discretionary con
signments receivers have inclined toward axking more money in view of a good consumptive demand and an impression that arrivals were likely to run somewhat smaller. To-day's market was firm and lue bout as low as any western could be reached, while some holders views were even higher: Near-by tock, single bbl...MM.per doz.l6J-($17 Htte lvali Western, prlme... ........................ ..... löa Old western.. The New York wool market is reported as follows in the Daily Bulletin of the 10th : Manufacturers are not earning forward in frre and open manner, and tome complain that the curreut cofit of material, and the rates they are enabled to obtain Tor their product leaves ! little or no margin of a profitable character. There appears t be demand enough, how ever, to keep a very fair arnouat of stock moving, and the general market retains a pretty healthy tone on sll the desirable descriptions of domestic wools, with holders apparently content to carry supplies and await the bidding of rates at which they fixed their ideas. There seems to be considerable confidence in the belief that production tends to an increase rather than a Jiraiuutiou.aud that stacks of attractive quality will no more than hold outnntilthe next clip. A few parcels bsve been offered from the interior of this state, but we are unable to learn of any thng of magnitude or calculated to effect the general position. Common grades, however, are without much strength, aud a noticeable feature of this week's business is the large movement in Texas and fall Californias, which are genera ly understood to have been run out low by -disgusted holders anxious ioquitstk. No positive Information lsasyetheie regarding the spring clip in California, and It is g nerally understood that tke staple will be short.
