There Nnuu-h n.iteinent here to-night. The lleiÄiMicans are enthusiast-ic over manufactured telegrawssent by men of sucli kindey as Hippie Mitchell, of Oregon, and Chamberlain, of Stuth Carolina, and beseige the telegraph .-ml newspaper ollices hoping to set some crünib of comfort to realize their desperate and hopeless anticipations. They are appreh. -iiMve and doubtful, but, nevertheless, as it Li the chaiue of a dying man, they assume to luve gained courage and hpe. The returns received here up to 11 o'clock are that the Ileiublkan National Committee concede Tilden IM vote?, and for the remaining vote, necessary to elect Tilden lie has t)u; doubtful staten of Florida, lxuisiuna. South Carolina and Oregon to draw from. Without n'iving any apparent reason why they made the claim, the Repultlican azurne that Oregon and Jsoatli Carolina have gone Kepublican, and that the contest hinges on Louisiana and Florida. All tue recent advices, both private and of the Tress Association, indicate tliai Lmisiana and Florida will certainly go for Tilden. and he will iw elected by liX electoral votes. This i. - the situation hare at midnight. There is evidently some desperate plot arranged to secure Louisiana to the Republicans, should Florida go for Hayes. IJrant left here at noon for Philadelphia, an 1 Edmunds, who has done Chandler's dirtv work during the canvass, was summoned by the latter to report in New York at once, "lie left at noon r response to the stimmdns. It is believed that the National Committee have either made or are about to make arrangements whereby t!ie result of the vote in Louisiana is to be withheld untd it i definitely ..ascertained w hether its el.'ctoral vote is nece&sary to Tilden suc cet, and if it is, the notorious reluming board have instructions to count it for 1 laves and Wheeler. None here doubts but that Tilden's majority in the st-tteis U,t. but if the contingency of Republican uctv.s rests with the state, the returning l oard is to be deper.ded on to doctor the -. l'liere is definite information that Hampton has carried South Carolina, and Tilden may reasonably cxp t the vite of the state. Taking the "judgment of .shrewd jioihicians of both parties, the conclusion to t arrived at i that Mr. Tilden will he -elected by from 19Ö to 207 electoral votes. It i believed here that Mr. Tiblen will carry very Southern state and that tomorrow's returns will show Oregon in the Democratic -column. During the entire day and night bous dispatches have been bulletined showing large Republican gains from ever- quarter. They are elicvctl to have lx-en sent by Jay (iould from New York, who has Agents here to make K-h to ennble him to hedge on the large amounts he has ventured on Hayes. One poor fool, a clerk at the headquarters of Chandler's committee, to-day sent Secretary MorrilJ a dispatch that New York had gone Republican by 2,500 majori ;y. It set the office-holders on their ears at once, and tht-y ledernd their de.-4cs and rushed pllhie't into the ttreetssliouting for Hayes. The ir devils, however, soon found tut the cruel boa':, but not lc fore they had put up their "scads" upon the strength of it. Sim-e :h days when war b'.illetins brought out the mult"Uriies there ha been no such cxciteuier.r ir. the city. The IcmM-rats are coaiident .tk1 enthusiastic, while the bread ,i:id butter brigade have lost their grip, yet try their tast to make- some show of assurance. Th Trtre Kltaatlon in Louisiana. Special Dispatch to the Enquirer. . New York, Not. 8. The following dispatc h has just been received here: "New Orleans, Nov. m. ls7. V. II. Hurlbut, World Office: "We have 11,0 XI majority in this city, and have fairly carried the Mate by upward of I ..000. The Republican leaders are now conferring with General De Trobriand. It is U-lieved tliatit is the intention of the Knited States Marshal to order Ihi Trobriand to jH-ize the ballot-boxes and tak them to tlie court-I;onse, where Republican will make the count to suit themselves. I send you a dispatch received here at 10 to-night from New Orleans. It clearly indicates the cause- of the Radical confidence existing heie. Chandler is happy now, and carries under his belt more champagne than would fill two punch bowls. California has been lost to us by the nr-ble management of Duke tiwynn,. and Wisconsin threatens to align herself with Ha3'e, although it has leen ably o:-jMrt.d by the gentleman from Minnesota, vl c-tmed Ohio for the Democracy r.-Octob r. : Florida and Ijuisiana are voting vet, ard will continue to do so probably until the Hayes men surfeit the boxes. The Western Union Telegraph Company, from -what I learn, has been vieing with Jay Gould in withholding Democratic disatches. We have w hipped the Radicals, but are not allowed to pursue them with our lightning, while they are being recruited and strengthened with the means denied us. In all the movements of the day there has been no serious disturbance in tlte betting, which is a very strange feature, unless it results from the'faclj that the Radical villainies are simply maturing and not yet completed. Should this- conjcctüVe be correct, to-morrow " night the Hayes men will raise-a racket at the pool-rooms. It might be just as well for Democrats to deposit their money in bank for a few days, rnd watch the game with empty pockets. The Democratic national committee would be favorably affected to-night if some of Newton's dynamite were placed in a fulmin ating state under two-thirds ot tbem, and an ounce of red permer put on the bottoms of their socks, ut the others, as many Id women without snuff or tea would be aa interesting ard useful The Radicals are scampering around like men of brains and wits, while our fellows ar) each trying to wear out a cane-bottom chair. Poor Oregon, which -eema so important now, was not even fed witlr the rpocn, and has probably been allowed to drift over to the other side of Jorlan. But amid the wreck of hones and the cru-sh of ballot boxes. Wade . Hampton Is probably elected. If we only had the Rounding llanning here for a day, that one rote .which Uncle Samuel would give his soul to obtain could be forthcoming. Duke ynn's son-in-law tclegrtphs from San
Francisco that California is very close, with the chances apiiost us, in my opinion. At the Democratic headquarters to-night there wa.lnore worthless mid antiquated ilesh to the square i?2ch than ever shadowed the same quantity of carper. The immense crotvd in frtntof the Fifth avenue hotel grie nine cheers aula tiger for Jay Gould, so united in b.v? and gratitude for favors past ami favors to come, tbe Uhio lamb and the Wall street wolf. Indiana was the first state last night to cut down the hoics of the Republican!.
