TRADE OF TUE WEEK. DRY GOODS.
There has been a market revival of business
In the wholesale houses during the past week. For the last three days the rrcea have been overworked in filling orders. The market is in a bad state to quote in regard to figured cotton goods. The desire to get clear of styles that are waning has amounted almost to a panic, so that in some Instances sales have been made at figures too low to represent the market. Hut In a general way cotton goods are exceeding v 'cheap and likely to remain s j for some time to com. The retail dry Roods houses havep-e-sented a lively appearance, but at the ruling prices they have to handle an immense amount oi goods to make the proüu ot former years. groceries. Although there U no large increase of trade to note, there is, nevertheless, an Improvement going on wnlcii, If continued to the close, wUl make a good exhibit for the month ; the earlier weeks of May were dull, but latterly activity liaa displaced dullness. Sugars are weak and uow a decline of gC ; the uernand Is fair.
