Tue election of the Soott candidate was onfldently iKedioted by 3 to 5 000. The 'starthat never cts' shinef with feeble rays for Scott. There it no chii.-e for Governor by the people. ' Tna rsguUr Piorc and King State ticket will foot np nobly. Taking irio o nsidcrution the boasted strength of the Whis of Verm nt, and the tremendous emhunasai said to exist fur Scott, the result of last Tuesday fails like a wet blanket on the hopes of Whig. ?ery. ' John II. Bradley Weara tho Brand. Wh?n thi great convert u Whigety, was nominated for Congress by the Adraini trators of the vVbig party in I'tditnpolis, he published a circular letter in the Jour nal in which he chaiged us with - hitching tho Bluff of White river t Vtncennet, sending Hendricks ooanty to Illinois, and locking Madison and Brown counties arm in arm." In reply to this charge, we took up the Journala and proved that the whole story was false, and branded it as it deserved to be. We showed that it was be, and bis party and particularly John D. Defreea and Samuel W. Paiker, that did the thing he had charged on us. He blustered around and spent a day examining the journals to exonerate himself, from the charge, but being unable to find any thing on the record, he quietly submitted to wear the brand. Verily he is an hoaorable man Desperation of Party. John D. Defrees, a profetaed Son of Temperance, and a "Templer" is endeavoring to prejndioe the people against Gov. Wright because be is a Temperance man,

though net a ' Son'' or "Templer," oi a member of any secret organization. All anti-Temperance Democrats, by this mode, are urged to vote for Nicholas McCarty, who is no Temperance man, and who, they are told, indulges occasionally. '' Whiggery is not irong enough to defeat Joe Wright, but Defrees, in his desperation, must lug in the Temperance question. Go on. Tne people understand this Indianapolis Whig junto ; and the Temperance and anti-Temperar.ee men fully understand the trick. It wont make many converts to Wbiggery.
